During he is military service he observed the Natives and even had a Native wife and child. After his service was done he became a art teacher at West Point, where he painted many of the things he saw in his service. He paints a few paintings that mainly show respect to the daily life and landscape of the Native American.  The most important part about his paintings is that he doesn't show them as savages . The thing that he did different was his used color for some of his paints and black and white for some also . Also most of his paintings was clear and you can look and tell what his image meant

He later enlisted in the military and became a officer. While there he drew pictures of the Natives and had a Native American wife. He later taught art at West point and married Mary Henderson. He is known for his artistic depictions of the Native Americans in the upper Mississippi River. COMMON THEMES or IMAGES: __Common themes that Seth Eastman paints is the daily life of Native Americans and their landscape. He paints the struggles, sports, rituals and of the Native Americans. He paints fair portrayals of the native Americans off of what he saw when he was in the military. Is artist RESPECTFUL of Native American culture? Explain._ Seth Eastman is respectful to the Native Americans because he depicts them accurately and fairly. He shows them playing sports and their daily lives. He doesn't show any disrespect by showing them as “savages”. He paints them as he saw them
